The Los Angeles Angels fired pitching coach Mike Maddux, assistant pitching coach Darryl Scott, and bullpen coach Dom Chiti, the club announced Tuesday.
Tim Leveque will serve as the interim pitching coach and Michael Wuertz is the interim bullpen coach.
"After spending time discussing with (manager) Kurt (Suzuki) where we are as a coaching staff and where we want to go in the future, we felt it was best to make a change," president of baseball operations John Mozeliak said in a statement. "With seven weeks remaining, we plan to use this time to evaluate what additional steps are needed to elevate our entire pitching program and best position us for success."
Maddux, the brother of Hall of Famer Greg Maddux, has been a pitching coach for several clubs for 24 straight seasons dating back to 2003. He was in his first season with the Angels.
Los Angeles has accrued the seventh-worst ERA (4.53) and an MLB-high 508 walks allowed this season.
The Angels (45-74) own the worst record in baseball. The club hasn't made the playoffs since 2014.
