Athletics catcher Shea Langeliers suffered a torn meniscus in his knee and could miss the remainder of the 2026 season, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.
Langeliers is reportedly still deciding whether or not to have surgery. If he does, he won't return this year.
The 28-year-old was rumored to potentially be on the move ahead of the Aug. 3 trade deadline, but his injury likely takes him off the market. He's still under team control for two more years before he can hit free agency.
Langeliers was the starting catcher for the American League at the 2026 MLB All-Star Game. He's hitting .263/.332/.497 with 23 home runs and 51 RBIs in 93 games this season.
