Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Adolis García will undergo surgery to repair a torn lat and could be sidelined for six-to-eight months, the team announced Thursday.
García is expected to be ready for the start of the 2027 campaign.
The 33-year-old exited a game against the Toronto Blue Jays on June 10 with a pulled muscle in his right shoulder. He was later determined to have a tear, and Philadelphia subsequently put him on the 60-day injured list.
The 2023 ALCS MVP was in his first season with the Phillies after six productive campaigns with the Texas Rangers, which included a World Series championship three years ago.
García hit .195/.270/.329 with seven home runs and 21 RBIs in 67 games after signing a one-year, $10-million deal in December.
