San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado isn't a fan of how statistics-driven baseball has become.

"I wish we could get the analytics out the way," Machado told the media Friday. "I think there's too many stats out there. ... Way too many numbers. I don't even know half of the stuff that goes up (on the scoreboard)."

He added: "It's just crazy to even keep up with. ... I mean the pitching stuff. Like FIP or something like that. ... Like what is that?"

The seven-time All-Star is confused as to why some advanced individual stats are tracked because baseball is a team sport.

"It takes a team to win a ballgame and not just one person," Machado said. "One person could be that guy, right, one person could carry a team, but this is a team sport. You don't win a championship by just one player. It takes a whole goddamn village to do it. So, why are we creating these stats? I think that's the problem with baseball right now."

The 33-year-old's rant comes amid a tough start to his 15th season. He's slashing .175/.262/.355 with 11 homers and 32 RBIs over 60 games.

Machado's also experienced a decline in several Statcast batting metrics.

The Padres have lost six in a row entering Saturday's action.
