Twins' Lewis has moderate hamstring strain, no timetable for return

The Minnesota Twins announced Monday that third baseman Royce Lewis has a moderate left hamstring strain that will leave him sidelined to begin the 2025 season, according to Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

The Twins added they have no timetable yet for Lewis' expected return to the lineup.

The 25-year-old left Sunday's spring training game against the Boston Red Sox in the second inning after injuring his hamstring while running to first base on a grounder.

Lewis has played in only 140 games over the past two seasons because of strains in his quad, adductor, oblique, and hamstring. He also tore his ACL for a second time in June 2022. However, he's been productive when on the field, hitting a combined 33 homers with 104 RBIs and an .825 OPS over 152 contests.

Minnesota took Lewis with the No. 1 pick in the 2017 draft.
