The Washington Nationals and right-hander Michael Soroka agreed to a one-year contract, the club announced Thursday.
The deal is worth $9 million, a source told Robert Murray of FanSided.
Soroka will be used as a starter with the Nationals, according to Murray.
The 27-year-old authored a 4.74 ERA with a 1.38 WHIP and 84 strikeouts over 79 2/3 innings with the Chicago White Sox last season.
Soroka primarily worked out of the bullpen but also made nine starts, which was his highest total since he was a 2019 All-Star with the Atlanta Braves. He missed all of 2021, 2022, and parts of 2023 after recovering from two Achilles tendon tears.
