Report: Guardians, Mariners discuss Josh Naylor trade
Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor has been brought up in trade conversations with the Seattle Mariners, sources told Jon Morosi of MLB Network.
Seattle has reportedly explored various options in an attempt to find an upgrade at the position.
The Mariners are currently projected to start Luke Raley at first after he took over for Ty France, who was dealt to the Cincinnati Reds at the trade deadline.
Naylor was named to his first All-Star Game during a career year in 2024. He went deep 31 times with 108 RBIs and a .776 OPS over 152 games for the AL Central-winning Guardians. The 27-year-old is expected to make around $14.2 million in his final year of arbitration in 2025 before reaching free agency.
Seattle finished with the sixth-lowest slugging percentage in the majors as it missed the playoffs for a second straight year.
