Blue Jays reinstate Bichette from IL, lose Varsho, Wagner to injuries
The Toronto Blue Jays announced they reinstated shortstop Bo Bichette from the 10-day injured list ahead of Tuesday's series opener against the Texas Rangers.
The two-time All-Star is batting second and playing shortstop for Tuesday's game.
Bichette has been sidelined since July 19 with a right calf strain. It was his second IL stint for a calf injury this season.
The 26-year-old has slumped through his worst offensive season, slashing .222/.275/.320 with four home runs and 30 RBIs across 80 games.
The Blue Jays also placed outfielder Daulton Varsho on the 10-day IL and infielder Will Wagner on the 60-day IL.
Varsho has been dealing with a right shoulder strain. He told Sportsnet's Hazel Mae that he'll undergo surgery as soon as he can to be ready for spring training.
"There's a rotator cuff issue at the front of my shoulder that's been bugging me," Varsho said.
Wagner will miss the remainder of the season due to left knee inflammation.
