Yankees sign Hill to 1-year deal
The New York Yankees signed left-hander Tim Hill to a one-year contract and added him to the active roster, the team announced.
Hill will join the Yankees ahead of their series finale against the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday, according to the New York Post's Joel Sherman.
The 34-year-old sidearmer was released by the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday after posting a 5.87 ERA and 2.22 WHIP in 27 appearances. Hill is a veteran of seven big-league seasons in which he spent time with the White Sox, Kansas City Royals, and San Diego Padres.
The Yankees designated left-hander Clayton Andrews for assignment to make space on the 40-man roster for Hill.
New York's bullpen has been riddled with injuries. Ian Hamilton, Scott Effross, Jonathan Loáisiga, Nick Burdi, and Lou Trivino are all on the injured list.
