Report: Phillies add Turnbull on 1-year, $2M deal
The Philadelphia Phillies and right-hander Spencer Turnbull agreed to a one-year, $2-million contract, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network.
Turnbull can reportedly make an additional $2 million through incentives.
Similar to deal Phillies gave Kolby Allard. Turnbull has a minor-league option and Phillies paid big-league money to obtain it. Likely opens in AAA rotation as depth. https://t.co/PNBPe3yB46

The 31-year-old returned to the mound last season after recovering from Tommy John surgery. However, he struggled immensely, amassing a 7.26 ERA with 1.68 WHIP and 24 strikeouts over 31 innings (seven starts) before being demoted to the minors.
Turnbull owns a 4.55 ERA with 3.82 FIP and 8.2 K/9 over five years as a starter with the Detroit Tigers, which included a no-hitter in May 2021.
