Mets' McNeil to miss rest of regular season with fractured wrist
New York Mets utility player Jeff McNeil will miss the remainder of the regular season with a wrist fracture, Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Saturday, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.
McNeil suffered the injury after being hit by a pitch against the Cincinnati Reds on Friday night.
With the injury requiring a four-to-six-week recovery timeline, McNeil told reporters he could return late into a potential playoff run, per SNY.
McNeil slashed .238/.308/.384 with 12 home runs and 44 RBIs across 129 games with the Mets this season.
The 2022 NL batting champion is in the second season of a four-year, $50-million contract he signed with New York. He's a two-time All-Star with a career 117 OPS+ across seven MLB campaigns.
New York, winners of eight straight games, entered Saturday tied with the Atlanta Braves for the final NL wild-card spot.
