Atlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Strider is the latest MLB player to change his uniform number to 99.
Strider said he's going with the new digits because his favorite movie is "Major League" and that he relates to fictitious pitcher Ricky "Wild Thing" Vaughn, according to Mark Bowman of MLB.com.
Vaughn, who also wears No. 99, is a fan favorite in the movie for his crazy antics, control issues, and major velocity:
Strider also said that he always wears No. 99 when he adds himself to a roster on MLB The Show.
The 24-year-old finished as the NL Rookie of the Year runner-up after posting a 2.67 ERA with 0.99 WHIP and 202 strikeouts over 131 2/3 innings (20 starts) last season.
