The Los Angeles Dodgers continued to flounder during May with a 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday.

The team's struggles are making right-hander Trevor Bauer, who took the loss on Sunday, more than a little upset.

"I don't necessarily want to speak for the team. But I'm pissed personally," the reigning NL Cy Young winner said, according to Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times. "I don't like losing. I want to win. That's why I came here. And we are not playing up to our capabilities right now, so I'm mad."

After starting hot with a 13-2 record, the defending champion Dodgers have slowly come back to earth over the last few weeks. Sunday's loss was the club's 15th in its last 20 contests, and the Dodgers' league-leading 10th one-run defeat, according to Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. They've now lost five consecutive series for the first time since September 2017.

Injuries have hit L.A. hard. Most notably, 2019 NL MVP Cody Bellinger has been sidelined since early April with a hairline fracture in his leg. The Dodgers possess enough firepower to survive Bellinger's absence, but they're not hitting well. On Sunday, they left 12 men on base while going 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

"There's no complacency. Guys are grinding. That's who we are," manager Dave Roberts said, according to Plunkett. "... Bottom line is we're better than this. We expect to win baseball games, considerably more than we lose."

Bauer isn't ready to panic, but he thinks his team should understand the urgency of the situation.

"You can say it's early, no need to panic, and (it's) true, but at the end of the day, we're not going to roll the bats and balls out there and win baseball games," Bauer said, according to DiGiovanna. "We're not going to sleepwalk our way to another division title and World Series."
