The Chicago White Sox designated right-handed reliever Steve Cishek for assignment in one of four roster moves announced Thursday.
Cishek was one of several veteran players White Sox general manager Rick Hahn added to the club in the offseason.
The 34-year-old struggled after inking a one-year, $6-million pact with the White Sox, though, posting career highs in both ERA (5.40) and FIP (5.63) in 22 appearances this season.
Chicago also designated left-hander Ross Detwiler for assignment. Detwiler owns a 3.20 ERA and a 3.89 FIP in 19 2/3 innings in 2020.
The moves created roster spots for Aaron Bummer and Carlos Rodon, who were both reinstated from Chicago's injured list.
