The New York Mets have placed All-Star Jeff McNeil on the 10-day injured list, the team announced Wednesday.

The versatile McNeil is expected to miss only 10 days after an MRI revealed a mild left hamstring strain, a source told Anthony DiComo of MLB.com.

Infielder Ruben Tejada has been recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move. Additionally, the Mets have transferred pitcher Jacob Rhame to the 60-day IL.

McNeil suffered the injury while trying to beat out a grounder during Tuesday's loss to the Atlanta Braves.

"It sucks," McNeil said, according to DiComo. "The team's playing well. I just want to contribute. Hopefully, this is something real short and I can get back on the field."

The 27-year-old owns the NL's third-best batting average (.332) while posting a .929 OPS in his first full season in the majors. McNeil's accrued a 3.7 WAR through 105 games for New York.
