The Toronto Blue Jays are "awfully close" to calling up Vladimir Guerrero Jr., baseball's top prospect, but it won't happen Tuesday, according to USA Today Sports' Bob Nightengale.
Nightengale had reported earlier Monday that Toronto was expected to call up Guerrero on Tuesday ahead of the club's game against the San Francisco Giants.
"All that remains is the official announcement," Nightengale wrote.
Guerrero, 20, is hitting .412/.500/.824 with two home runs and six RBIs in five games for Triple-A Buffalo this season.
