Oklahoma City Thunder (41-13)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 1</p><p>The league's best record will come under threat with an abdominal strain set to keep reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander out until after the All-Star break. On the bright side, Jalen Williams just returned from a 10-game absence.</p><h3><a id="SAS" name="SAS">3. San Antonio Spurs (37-16)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 4</p><p>The Spurs continue to put faith in an emerging young core whose successes are ahead of schedule, which explains why they were one of four teams that did nothing at the deadline (Heat, Suns, Rockets). Boring? Yes. Sensible? Quite possibly.</p><h3><a id="NYK" name="NYK">4. New York Knicks (34-20)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 10</p><p>The Knicks are 9-2 since Jalen Brunson spearheaded a players-only meeting, a stretch in which New York boasts the league's best defensive (102.8) and net ratings (14.9).</p><h3><a id="BOS" name="BOS">5. Denver Nuggets (34-20)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 2</p><p>Denver prioritized converting two-way center Spencer Jones to a standard deal at the deadline, and it's understandable why. The undrafted wing is having a breakout second year and is a large reason why Aaron Gordon's injury hasn't derailed the Nuggets' campaign.</p><h3><a id="HOU" name="HOU">7. Houston Rockets (33-19)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 5</p><p>Houston's decision to forgo any moves is curious considering the season-ending injuries to Fred VanVleet and Steven Adams. The starting core has proven trustworthy, but the bench posted a middle-of-the-road net rating in January after ranking in the top five prior.</p><h3><a id="CLE" name="CLE">8. Cleveland Cavaliers (33-21)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 9</p><p>The Cavs are going all-in with Donovan Mitchell's extension decision looming. Darius Garland has a bright future ahead despite recurring injuries, but James Harden gives Cleveland a better shot to win a title this season.</p><h3><a id="LAL" name="LAL">9. Los Angeles Lakers (32-21)</a></h3><p><em>Previous: </em>8</p><p>With all due respect to Luke Kennard's 49.4% rate from deep, the Lakers' real deadline acquisition was the return of Austin Reaves following a five-week absence with a calf strain. Los Angeles promptly won three<strong> </strong>straight with Reaves back in the lineup after going 10-9 without him.</p><h3><a id="MIN" name="MIN">10. Toronto Raptors (32-22)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 7</p><p>Jakob Poeltl's contract kept the Raptors from making a major move. Toronto will now focus on getting Poeltl healthy for the stretch run so he can alleviate some pressure off rookie Collin Murray-Boyles. Bah gawd, that's Trayce Jackson-Davis' music.</p><h3><a id="PHI" name="PHI">12. Philadelphia 76ers (30-23)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 13</p><p>Sixers exec Daryl Morey said he's "quite confident we were selling high on Jared McCain" after shipping the talented guard to OKC. Why even say this publicly? Thunder virtuoso Sam Presti must be cackling in his underground lair at this.</p><h3><a id="PHX" name="PHX">13. Phoenix Suns (32-22)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 11</p><p>The Suns' quiet deadline suggests the franchise trusts this revamped core around a Collin Gillespie-Devin Booker backcourt. If Jalen Green's hamstring allows him to stay on the floor from now on, that faith could be validated.</p><h3><a id="CHA" name="CHA">14. Charlotte Hornets (25-29)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 21</p><p>Charlotte was the league's hottest team until Monday's game against Detroit, which not only ended in a loss but also devolved into a brawl that led to multiple ejections. Though the Hornets have the talent to compete in the East, their decision-making may hold them back.</p><h3><a id="ORL" name="ORL">15. They now sit 1.5 games behind the sixth-seeded 76ers. This has many people asking: Was the backup guard the problem? Okay, nobody is <em>actually</em> asking that. On top of Desmond Bane's efficient scoring and Anthony Black's continued development in his third season, the return of Franz Wagner should benefit Orlando in its push to climb out of the play-in.</p><h3><a id="GSW" name="GSW">16. Golden State Warriors (29-25)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 15</p><p>Golden State finally put an end to the Jonathan Kuminga saga, trading the disgruntled forward to the Hawks for Kristaps Porzingis. Although the Latvian might not raise the Warriors' ceiling much, it'll give the club an extended look at the pending unrestricted free agent.</p><h3><a id="MIA" name="MIA">17. Miami Heat (28-27)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 14</p><p>Another year of trade chatter linking the Heat to a star comes and goes unceremoniously as Miami again languishes in play-in range. Unless another play-in matchup against Chicago is the goal, it's time for a different plan of attack in South Beach.</p><h3><a id="LAC" name="LAC">18. Los Angeles Clippers (25-28)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 19</p><p>The Clippers have a shot at a play-in spot but have effectively abandoned the season after trading away two of their top three players - Harden and Ivica Zubac. Garland could yield long-term returns, though his lingering toe injury persists.</p><h3><a id="ATL" name="ATL">19. Atlanta Hawks (26-29)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 20</p><p>Atlanta hasn't gained any traction in the East's top-six race since trading Trae Young on Jan. 9. If a fresh start for Kuminga can revitalize their bench, the Hawks could be a problem in the second half - but that's a big if.</p><h3><a id="POR" name="POR">20. Vit Krejci's addition bolsters the NBA's 29th-ranked team in 3-point efficiency, while Scoot Henderson's long-awaited return strengthens the Blazers' backcourt.</p><h3><a id="MIL" name="MIL">21. Milwaukee Bucks (21-30)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 24</p><p>Milwaukee's decision to keep Antetokounmpo through the deadline might work out in the long run. His current suitors will have more assets to offer in the summer, and new teams could join the sweepstakes after falling short in their title pursuits.</p><h3><a id="CHI" name="CHI">22. Chicago Bulls (24-30)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 16</p><p>Better late than never for the Bulls and top exec Arturas Karnisovas, who finally realized that finishing between ninth and 11th in five of the last six seasons wasn't a recipe for success. There's still plenty of time to improve those lottery odds, too.</p><h3><a id="DAL" name="DAL">23. Dallas Mavericks (19-34)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 22</p><p>The Mavs were never going to find the next Luka Doncic in any Anthony Davis trade. But cutting bait with the oft-injured star gives Dallas some draft compensation and the financial flexibility to help build around Cooper Flagg.</p><h3><a id="MEM" name="MEM">24. Memphis Grizzlies (20-32)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 23</p><p>Nobody wanted Ja Morant at the deadline, or at least nobody was willing to meet the Grizzlies' demands. Still, he likely won't be in Memphis in 2026-27. And with 13 first-round picks in the next seven years, the rebuild is in full swing.</p><h3><a id="WAS" name="WAS">25. Utah Jazz (17-37)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 25</p><p>Jaren Jackson Jr.'s addition gives the Jazz something tangible to build toward, but in the interim, the paramount goal is to ensure they keep their top-eight protected pick in what's expected to be a deep draft. <em>Cue the series of Lauri Markkanen (DNP - indifference).</em></p><h3><a id="NOP" name="NOP">27. New Orleans Pelicans (15-40)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 27</p><p>Dejounte Murray's return appears to be inching closer, but the Pelicans are otherwise fully healthy and still losing plenty. Absolutely nothing suggests the second half will be better, and this summer needs to be one of substantial change in New Orleans.</p><h3><a id="IND" name="IND">28. Indiana Pacers (14-40)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 28</p><p>Indiana's poised for a bounce-back season. Not only will Tyrese Haliburton be back, but they've now added Zubac via trade on a team-friendly deal. The Pacers also have a shot at landing a blue-chip prospect depending on how the draft lottery unfolds.</p><h3><a id="BKN" name="BKN">29. Brooklyn Nets (15-37)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 26</p><p>The Nets took on some salaries, received a slew of second-round picks as a reward, and can now focus on bottoming out in hopes of a top-three pick. Losing 10 of their last 13 games is a great start to that strategy, but recent back-to-back wins over the Wizards and Bulls don't help.</p><h3><a id="SAC" name="SAC">30. Sacramento Kings (12-43)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 29</p><p>The Kings were ostensibly constructed with the playoffs in mind, yet they're out-tanking even the most brazen tankers. Either the most clairvoyant geniuses in NBA history occupy Sacramento's front office, or this is truly one of the most poorly built squads of all time.</p>

His dominance during the 2010s earned him four first-team All-Pro nominations and a spot on the All-Decade team. He won three Super Bowls with the Patriots and one with the Buccaneers.</p><p><strong>Ben Roethlisberger</strong>: He was the Steelers' starting quarterback for 18 straight years, securing two Super Bowl titles. Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers kept Roethlisberger from earning an All-Pro selection or an MVP trophy, but he's got six Pro Bowl selections and an Offensive Rookie of the Year award on his resume.</p><p><strong>Adrian Peterson</strong>: Peterson is one of the best running backs to ever lace them up. The former Vikings star is the most recent non-quarterback to secure an MVP award (2012), and he led the league in rushing three times during his 15-year career.</p><p><strong>Richard Sherman: </strong>The three-time first-team All-Pro cornerback was the leader of a Seahawks secondary that terrorized opposing offenses and became known as the Legion of Boom. A true lockdown defender, Sherman led the league in interceptions in 2013 and earned a spot on the 2010s All-Decade team.</p><p><strong>Eric Weddle</strong>: A ball hawk, hard hitter, and blitzer all in one, Weddle earned two first-team All-Pro nods during his 14-year career with the Chargers, Ravens, and Rams. He came out of retirement at the end of the 2021 season and started in Super Bowl LVI, helping Los Angeles win the Lombardi Trophy.</p><p><strong>Andrew Whitworth</strong>: Whitworth started 235 games and seemed to get better with age, earning two first-team All-Pro nominations after turning 33. The longtime Bengal retired on top after winning a Super Bowl with the Rams during the 2021 campaign.</p><p><strong>Antonio Brown</strong>: An incredible talent, Brown secured four first-team All-Pro nominations while posting five straight seasons of at least 1,285 receiving yards. He led the NFL in receiving twice and touchdown receptions once. He's a two-time Super Bowl MVP with 57,023 career yards and 366 touchdown passes. But his lack of All-Pro nods and his 244 interceptions hurt his case. It doesn't help that Drew Brees was in the 2026 class and Manning will likely go up against Roethlisberger ('27) and Tom Brady ('28) next.</p><p><strong>Jason Witten:</strong> One of the most consistent tight ends of his era, Witten ranks second in NFL history for catches and yards at the position. He's also the Cowboys' all-time leader in those categories, as well as games played.</p><p><strong>Frank Gore:</strong> Gore was a finalist in his first year of eligibility. He doesn't have any first-team All-Pro berths on his resume, but his longevity stands out. The 49ers' all-time leading rusher retired with 16,000 career rushing yards and 81 touchdowns on the ground in 241 regular-season appearances, a running back record.</p><p><strong>Willie Anderson:</strong> The longtime Bengals offensive tackle has been knocking on the door as a finalist in the last five years. Anderson was one of the most dominant blockers of his era, claiming three first-team All-Pro selections in 184 starts from 1996-2008.</p><p><strong>Torry Holt:</strong> The wait continues for Holt, who's heading into his 13th year of eligibility. A key member of the Greatest Show on Turf, he helped the Rams win a Super Bowl. Holt's six straight seasons with at least 1,300 receiving yards from 2000-05 remains an NFL record (tied with Julio Jones).</p><p><strong>Reggie Wayne:</strong> Wayne has been a finalist in each of his seven years of eligibility, yet the former Colts great hasn't gotten the call. Wayne formed an outstanding trio with Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison, who are both already in Canton. They won a Super Bowl together, and Wayne ranks second to only Harrison in every major receiving category on the team.</p><p><strong>Jahri Evans:</strong> One of the best guards of his era, Evans was also an iron man for the Saints. He made 169 of a possible 176 starts over 11 years in New Orleans before finishing his career with the Packers. The heralded right guard was also a Pro Bowler six consecutive times from 2009-14. Perhaps it won't be long before he joins former teammate Brees in Canton.</p><p><strong>Darren Woodson:</strong> Another year has gone by where Woodson has been a finalist but hasn't received the much-anticipated knock on his door. Woodson was a major part of the Cowboys' dynasty of the '90s, winning three Super Bowls with Dallas. Despite being a safety, Woodson is the franchise's all-time leader in tackles. The three-time first-team All-Pro also had 23 career interceptions, including a run of 10 straight seasons with a pick.</p><p><strong>Terrell Suggs:</strong> Suggs, a finalist in each of the last two years, ranks eighth in NFL history with 139 sacks. The good news for him is that the only players ahead of him are Hall of Famers.</p><p><strong>Marshal Yanda:</strong> Like his former teammate Suggs, Yanda has also been a finalist but fallen short in two straight years. One of the best interior offensive linemen of the modern era, few controlled the trenches like Yanda, who spent his 13-year career with the Ravens. Yanda won one Super Bowl and earned eight Pro Bowl nods and two first-team All-Pro appearances. He was also recognized on the NFL's All-Decade Team for the 2010s.</p><p><strong>Kevin Williams:</strong> Williams was a finalist for the first time in 2026. Not only was he a cornerstone of a dominant Vikings front seven, but he was also one of the league's best defensive linemen and a member of the 2000s All-Decade Team. Williams racked up six Pro Bowls and five first-team All-Pro honors in addition to 63 sacks.</p><h3>Wait, what about Bill Belichick?</h3><p>Only one coach can be a Hall of Fame finalist each year. Belichick made the list but ultimately fell short of induction on his first ballot. We expect him to get the nod in 2027. The coach is inarguably an all-time great, having won eight Super Bowl titles, including two as an assistant.</p><p>If chosen as a finalist again, Belichick would be grouped with three seniors and one contributor (possibly Patriots owner Robert Kraft) before the committee votes. Kraft also fell short in 2026.</p><p>Voters select up to three of those five finalists. Each name needs at least 80% support to get immortalized in Canton, unless none of them reaches the 80% threshold; in that case, the finalist who got the most votes is inducted.</p>

Detroit Pistons (34-11)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 2</p><p><strong>Find a different use for Ivey:</strong> Injuries have limited Jaden Ivey's explosiveness off the bounce and ability to get downhill, but he's shooting 40.3% on catch-and-shoot threes - a skill the Pistons need following Malik Beasley's departure.</p><h3><a id="SAS" name="SAS">4. San Antonio Spurs (31-15)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 3</p><p><strong>Trade Sochan:</strong> Jeremy Sochan has virtually fallen out of the Spurs' rotation after playing a key role in his first three NBA seasons. The former top-10 pick is on an expiring deal and could be a useful trade chip for a win-now move.</p><h3><a id="HOU" name="HOU">5. Ivica Zubac might be available, but Boston could get players like Day'Ron Sharpe or Isaiah Jackson for much less and without giving up Anfernee Simons.</p><h3><a id="TOR" name="TOR">7. Toronto Raptors (29-19)</a></h3><p><em>Previous: </em>11</p><p><strong>Address center position:</strong> Jakob Poeltl has missed more than a month with a back injury. While rookie Collin Murray-Boyles has performed admirably in his place, the Raptors would be wise to acquire an experienced center.</p><h3><a id="LAL" name="LAL">8. Los Angeles Lakers (28-17)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 9</p><p><strong>Figure out LeBron's plan</strong>: How the Lakers eventually build a roster around Luka Doncic will depend heavily on what LeBron James decides to do for next season. If James wants to continue his career elsewhere, a thorough roster shuffle may be the best play.</p><h3><a id="CLE" name="CLE">9. Cleveland Cavaliers (28-20)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 15</p><p><span style="margin:0px; padding:0px; text-align:left"><strong>Don't deal Wade:</strong> Although Dean Wade's unique skill set and $6.6-million expiring deal (and Bird rights) will appeal to several contenders, his ability to defend guards and serve as a floor-spacing small-ball center is an irreplaceable asset for the Cavaliers.</span></p><h3><a id="NYK" name="NYK">10. Phoenix Suns (28-19)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 8</p><p><strong>Don't risk Green's hamstring</strong>: Jalen Green's off-the-bench return looked plenty promising until he aggravated a hamstring issue in his second game back. Phoenix is 15-7 when Collin Gillespie and Devin Booker both start, meaning Green as a sixth man could be the perfect role for him on the Suns. </p><h3><a id="MIN" name="MIN">12. Minnesota Timberwolves (28-19)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 4</p><p><strong>Balance the bench scoring</strong>: While Minnesota's bench excels defensively, its offensive rating is a painfully inefficient 27th in the league. Relying solely on Naz Reid for bench scoring is unsustainable. The Timberwolves either need to add another reserve scorer or stagger a starter's minutes. </p><h3><a id="PHI" name="PHI">13. Philadelphia 76ers (25-21)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 12</p><p><strong>Keep Embiid, PG healthy:</strong> Improved play from Joel Embiid and Paul George has turned the 76ers into a threat in the East without unseating Tyrese Maxey as the team's focal point. George in particular is flourishing in an unfamiliar supporting role.</p><h3><a id="MIA" name="MIA">14. Miami Heat (25-22)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 17</p><p><strong>Get Jovic back on track:</strong> It's been an up-and-down season for Nikola Jovic, who hasn't lived up to the $62.4-million extension he signed last October. Jovic has been an effective stretch-four in the past, but he's making only 29.8% of his threes this season.</p><h3><a id="GSW" name="GSW">15. But it's one or the other.</p><h3><a id="CHI" name="CHI">16. Chicago Bulls (23-23)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 21</p><p><strong>Fire Karnisovas:</strong> Harsh? Perhaps. Fair? Entirely. Arturas Karnisovas, the Bulls' top decision-maker, is running this team into the ground, and his attempts to move Nikola Vucevic follow an alarming trend of holding onto players who don't fit until their value plummets.</p><h3><a id="ORL" name="ORL">17. Orlando Magic (23-22)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 14</p><p><strong>Acquire a sharpshooter:</strong> Orlando's spacing has been an issue for years. The Magic are 28th in threes (11.1) despite the offseason addition of Desmond Bane and could use another outside threat to help their mediocre half-court offense.</p><h3><a id="POR" name="POR">18. Portland Trail Blazers (23-25)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 16</p><p><strong>Solve the Scoot dilemma</strong>: Portland still hasn't gotten a great look at how Scoot Henderson fits with this core, and he's due for an extension this summer. Both sides need a solid, extended run from the former No. 2 pick soon.</p><h3><a id="LAC" name="LAC">19. Los Angeles Clippers (22-24)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 19</p><p><strong>Maintain the pace in February</strong>: The Clippers' league-high 10 wins in January mark an impressive season turnaround, though it's arguably inflated by multiple wins over the Nets and Wizards. Their West-heavy schedule over the next month will be a true test of their resurgence.</p><h3><a id="ATL" name="ATL">20. Charlotte Hornets (19-28)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 23</p><p><strong>Force more turnovers:</strong> Though the Hornets have transformed into the sixth-ranked offensive unit, they haven't shown much improvement on defense. Charlotte has particularly struggled to induce miscues, ranking 26th in points off turnovers (15.6) and 30th in steals (6.8).</p><h3><a id="DAL" name="DAL">22. But without a first-rounder this summer, is Queen's emergence enough to stick with the rest of this core for another season?</p><h3><a id="IND" name="IND">28. Indiana Pacers (11-36)</a></h3><p> <em>Previous: </em>28</p><p><strong>Stay in tank mode:</strong> This has been a rough year for the Pacers following last season's thrilling run to the Finals. Washington Wizards (11-34)</a></h3><p><em>Previous:</em> 26</p><p><strong>Don't rush Trae back:</strong> There should be no urgency to insert newcomer Trae Young into the lineup. Washington has a top-eight protected pick in this year's draft and could add a difference-making prospect to its fledgling young core.</p>

<p>Golden State Warriors forward <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/2809" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/2809">Jimmy Butler</a> will miss the remainder of the season after tearing his ACL in Monday night's 135-112 victory over the Miami Heat, the team announced Tuesday.</p><p>Butler sustained the injury midway through the third quarter, leaping to grab an entry feed in the post before landing awkwardly. </blockquote> <script async="" src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></figure><p>Butler's long-term absence is a massive blow to Golden State's hopes of competing for another title with <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/148" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/148">Stephen Curry</a>, whose contract, like Butler's, runs out after next season.</p><p>The Warriors, who rank eighth in the West at 25-19 after Monday's win, are 20-13 in 2025-26 when Butler and Curry both play. However, they've won just two of six matchups without Butler this season. Golden State went 22-5 with both Butler and Curry in the lineup last season after acquiring the former from the Miami Heat in February.</p><p>The development may also significantly alter the team's plans with the trade deadline just over two weeks away. Fifth-year forward <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/96094" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/96094">Jonathan Kuminga</a>, who hasn't factored in head coach Steve Kerr's rotation since mid-December, is now potentially the No. 1 option to replace Butler in the Warriors' starting lineup despite demanding a trade Thursday, the first day he was eligible to be moved this season.</p><p>When asked postgame Monday if he could turn to Kuminga in the wake of Butler's injury, Kerr <a href="https://x.com/ohnohedidnt24/status/2013490838844715397">responded</a>, "Sure, absolutely," adding that he believed the 23-year-old was ready.</p><p>Golden State won't be granted a disabled player exception for Butler's season-ending injury, as the deadline to apply was Jan. 15, per <a href="https://twitter.com/KeithSmithNBA/status/2013616152056869273">Spotrac's Keith Smith</a>.</p><p>Butler had 17 points, four assists, three boards, and two steals in 21 minutes prior to his departure.</p><p>His agent Bernie Lee said he believes the 36-year-old will return to win his first championship before he retires.</p><p>"My belief in that is unwavering," Lee told <a href="https://x.com/anthonyVslater/status/2013641356950851627">ESPN's Anthony Slater</a>. "I've watched Jimmy support and uplift and change the lives of countless people, including my own, and now is a time for people to rally around him and offer him that same support, which we will."</p><p>Butler was averaging 20.1 points, 5.6 boards, 4.9 assists, and 1.4 steals entering Monday's contest against his former team.</p>
