Cincinnati Reds infielder Alex Blandino has been diagnosed with a torn right ACL after an unfortunate accident on Friday during a blowout loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Blandino suffered the injury in the ninth inning while trying to turn a double play. He wound up on the receiving end of a contact slide by Max Moroff.

"I knew right away he was hurt because he was screaming," Moroff said after the game, according to The Athletic's C. Trent Rosecrans.

The 25-year-old Blandino was placed on the 10-day disabled list on Saturday, according to MLB.com's Mark Sheldon, but it's unlikely he'll return this season.
