Tina Charles, the WNBA's second all-time leading scorer, announced her retirement Tuesday after 14 seasons.

Charles began her pro career with the Connecticut Sun following a decorated four-year run at UConn. The former No. 1 overall pick went on to win several major accolades, including MVP, Rookie of the Year, and All-WNBA honors on nine occasions.
Charles sits atop the WNBA's all-time leaderboard in field goals (3,364) and rebounds (4,262). The eight-time All-Star led the league in boards four times and captured a pair of scoring titles.
Charles also played for the New York Liberty, Washington Mystics, Phoenix Mercury, Seattle Storm, and Atlanta Dream before returning to Connecticut last season for her final campaign.
The three-time WNBA All-Defensive team selection averaged 17.8 points, nine boards, and 2.2 assists across 473 career appearances.
Charles represented the United States at three Olympic Games, winning gold medals in London 2012, Rio 2016, and Tokyo 2020.
"Tina Charles has defined excellence and consistency throughout one of the most remarkable careers in WNBA history," WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert said in a statement. "From earning unanimous Rookie of the Year honors to being named league MVP, to becoming the WNBA's all-time leading rebounder and second all-time leading scorer, Tina's impact on the game will be felt for generations to come."
