Cristiano Ronaldo expects to retire at the end of this season.
"This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy," Ronaldo told Vogue's Gaby Wood.
The 41-year-old Ronaldo featured at his sixth World Cup for Portugal this summer.
After Portugal lost to eventual champion Spain in the round of 16, Ronaldo reaffirmed that it was his last World Cup and that he would "think about the rest" and "not make rash decisions" regarding his future. Portugal is a co-host of the 2030 World Cup.
Ronaldo's contract with Al-Nassr in the Saudi Pro League runs until June 2027. Al-Nassr's season began Saturday with a 3-0 win over Al-Fateh, though Ronaldo wasn't in the squad. He's 24 goals shy of reaching 1,000 for his senior career.
Ronaldo married Georgina Rodriguez earlier in August.
"I have my future all mapped out," Ronaldo said. "I have so many things to keep me busy that to tell you just one thing is hard. Because football could leave a big hole, you have to fill your time in various ways, not just one. And also have more fun, travel more, watch and play padel, which I really like, and continue to enjoy what I've earned - what we've earned. Because after all, it's been 25 years with a lot of sacrifice."
Ronaldo is a five-time Ballon d'Or winner. He's played for Sporting CP, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Al-Nassr over his 24-year career. Ronaldo is the all-time top scorer in men's international soccer with 146 goals for Portugal.
