The Boston Bruins named forward David Pastrnak captain on Sunday.
Pastrnak is the 28th player to wear the "C" in the franchise's storied history.
The 30-year-old succeeds Brad Marchand, who served as the team's captain from 2023-25 and now plays for the Florida Panthers.
Pastrnak has played all 833 of his career games with Boston, scoring 420 goals and adding 513 assists while averaging 18:33 of ice time. He won the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy as the league's top scorer in 2019-20.
Of the Bruins' 27 previous captains, 16 have been inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Patrice Bergeron will become the 10th former Bruins captain to have his number retired by the team during a ceremony in December.
