The Carolina Hurricanes signed goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov to a two-year contract extension with a $3.95-million cap hit, the team announced Friday.
Kochetkov played only nine games last season due to a lower-body injury, posting a 6-2-0 record with an .899 save percentage and a 2.33 goals-against average.
The 27-year-old didn't play a game during the Hurricanes' Stanley Cup run.
Kochetkov was set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2026-27 campaign. He's entering the final season of a four-year deal signed in November 2022 that carries a $2-million cap hit.
"Pyotr is an incredibly talented goalie whose aggressive style fits our team very well," Hurricanes general manager Eric Tulsky said. "We believe in his ability to win games for this organization and are thrilled he wants to continue helping us pursue championships in Carolina."
Kochetkov has played his entire five-season career in Carolina. The Russian has a career .904 SV% and is 71-38-12 in 125 games. He made a career-high 47 starts in 2024-25.
