Edmonton Oilers forward Matt Savoie and goaltender Frederik Andersen aren't expected to participate in training camp while rehabbing injuries that occurred during offseason training sessions, the team announced Wednesday.
Forward Mattias Janmark and defenseman Alec Regula are also unlikely to be ready for camp, as they recover from medical procedures performed shortly after the conclusion of the 2025-26 campaign.
Edmonton didn't offer return timelines for any of the four players.
Savoie is coming off a promising rookie season in which he tallied 18 goals and 19 assists in 82 games. The 22-year-old improved as the year progressed, notching 24 of his 37 points in the second half of the season. A ninth overall pick by the Buffalo Sabres in 2022, Savoie projects to play a top-six role for the Oilers this season.
Edmonton signed Andersen to a one-year contract this offseason to improve a goalie depth chart that also includes Tristan Jarry and Devon Levi. Andersen struggled with a .874 save percentage in 35 games for the Carolina Hurricanes during the 2025-26 regular season, but he was excellent for most of the playoffs, posting a .910 mark with three shutouts. The 36-year-old tweaked his knee in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. He started Game 3 but was pulled in favor of Brandon Bussi and didn't appear in the remainder of the series.
If healthy, Janmark and Regula both project as depth contributors for the Oilers in 2026-27.
