Lightning's Kucherov wins 2nd career Hart, beating McDavid, MacKinnon

Tampa Bay Lightning star Nikita Kucherov was awarded the Hart Trophy on Thursday as MVP of the 2025-26 NHL season, beating out Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid and Colorado Avalanche's Nathan MacKinnon.

It's the second career Hart Trophy for Kucherov, who previously won it in 2018-19. The six-time All-Star finished second in the league this year with 130 points in 76 games.

Kucherov's Lightning teammate Andrei Vasilevskiy also claimed hardware earlier this offseason, winning the Vezina Trophy as the league's best goaltender.

It was an unbelievably close race between the three finalists, with only 10 voting points separating Kucherov and McDavid.

Young San Jose Sharks phenom Macklin Celebrini finished just outside the finalists in fourth while Montreal Canadiens captain Nick Suzuki claimed the final first-place vote and placed fifth.
