The Toronto Maple Leafs will interview Patrick Roy and Peter Laviolette for their heading coaching vacancy this week, sources told TSN's Darren Dreger.

Roy led the New York Islanders to a 42-31-5 record this year before being fired with four games left in the season in favor of Peter DeBoer. Roy coached the Islanders for three seasons. In 2024, he guided them to the playoffs, where they lost to the Carolina Hurricanes in Round 1.

The Hall of Fame goaltender previously coached the Colorado Avalanche from 2013-16. He won the Jack Adams Award in 2014 for leading an upstart Avalanche squad to a 112-point season and a playoff appearance. However, Colorado failed to make the postseason in his final two years with the club.

Laviolette has coached six teams in his career and ranks seventh on the all-time wins list with 846. He won a Stanley Cup with the Hurricanes in 2006 and led the 2009-10 Philadelphia Flyers and 2016-17 Nashville Predators to Cup Final appearances.

The 61-year-old most recently coached the New York Rangers, guiding them to a Presidents' Trophy, a franchise-record 114 points, and an Eastern Conference Final appearance in 2024. However, New York failed to make the playoffs the following campaign and subsequently fired Laviolette. He didn't coach at all this season.

Laviolette also reportedly spoke to the Los Angeles Kings about their coaching vacancy.

Other coaches Toronto has been linked to include former Edmonton Oilers coach Jay Woodcroft and University of Denver bench boss David Carle, although there are conflicting reports about whether either candidate is still in the running.

The Maple Leafs fired head coach Craig Berube in May after plummeting to a 28th-place finish.
