Former Vegas Golden Knights head coach Bruce Cassidy expressed his desire to speak with interested teams Thursday.

"In this case, yes, there were two teams that asked (to interview me) - that's public knowledge now - and I would like to talk to them," Cassidy said on the "Spittin' Chiclets" podcast. "I want to go to work. I'm a hockey coach. As much as I love being around (Paul Bissonnette) at TNT, I wanna get back to work."

The Golden Knights reportedly denied the Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings - two of their Pacific Division rivals - permission to speak with Cassidy regarding their respective vacant head coaching positions.

Cassidy called the situation "upsetting" and explained that teams can't speak to him without the Golden Knights' permission until his contract expires after the 2026-27 season.

Vegas fired the 61-year-old with eight games left in the regular season and is now preparing for the Stanley Cup Final with John Tortorella behind the bench.

The NHL Coaches' Association backed Cassidy earlier in May, stating that "it would be unprecedented at the head coaching level should multiple teams be denied permission to speak with coach Cassidy."

Cassidy won the Stanley Cup with Vegas in 2023. The Golden Knights went 178-99-43 in his four seasons.
