Jack Hughes: 'At some point, I want to play with Quinn'
New Jersey Devils forward Jack Hughes wants to play with his brother Quinn at some point in their NHL careers.
"Honestly, I'm not afraid to say it. Yeah, I would love for Quinn to - eventually I'd love to play with him," Hughes told reporters at the NHL/NHLPA player media tour Tuesday, including TSN's Pierre LeBrun. "And whether that's in New Jersey or at what time that takes, at some point, I want to play with Quinn. But yeah, that's the question going around. They talk all day about it up in Vancouver, you know? But yeah, I'd love to play with Quinn at some point."
Jack is signed with the Devils through the 2029-30 season, and his younger brother, Luke, is currently a restricted free agent after playing 155 games for New Jersey over the last three years.
Quinn, the oldest of the three, has two years left on his contract with the Vancouver Canucks and is set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2027. The Canucks can't sign him to an extension until July 1.
Canucks president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford said in April that it would be easier to re-sign Hughes if Vancouver "brought his brothers here."
The three brothers donned the cover of EA Sports' NHL 25 together.
Jack has compiled four straight point-per-game campaigns and notched a career-high 43 goals and 99 points in 2022-23. Quinn won the Norris Trophy in 2023-24 with a career-best 92 points.
