Montreal Canadiens forward prospect Ryan Poehling will undergo surgery to repair a season-ending wrist injury, the team announced Thursday.
Poehling has spent the entire season with the AHL's Laval Rocket, recording 25 points in 28 games.
The 22-year-old center scored a hat trick in his NHL debut during a one-game call-up at the end of the 2018-19 season. However, in 27 NHL games during the following campaign he netted just one goal and one assist.
The Canadiens selected Poehling 25th overall at the 2017 NHL Draft.
