The Seattle Seahawks decided not to sign veteran running back Joe Mixon to their practice squad after he underwent a physical with the team, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

It was reported Monday that Mixon was signing with the Seahawks after they placed first-round rookie Jadarian Price on injured reserve.

Mixon, 30, hasn't played since the 2024 season.

Head coach Mike Macdonald confirmed Monday that the former Cincinnati Bengals star had worked out for the Seahawks, according to ESPN's Brady Henderson. He added that Mixon would be put on their practice squad if he did indeed sign with the team.

"We're down runners," Macdonald said when asked about Seattle's interest in Mixon. "We need running backs. He's a good running back."

Mixon, who last played for the Houston Texans, rushed for 1,016 yards and scored 11 touchdowns in 14 games in 2024. Houston released him in March after he missed the entire 2025 season with a foot injury.

Mixon spent his first seven seasons in Cincinnati, where he was two-time Pro Bowler.

Price, meanwhile, is expected to miss at least another three games due to a chest injury.

Additionally, Jacardia Wright, the only running back on Seattle's practice squad, is reportedly suffering from a foot injury.
