Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray didn't finish Sunday's 39-22 victory against the Green Bay Packers after suffering a concussion in the first quarter.
Murray appeared to get his head sandwiched between Lukas Van Ness and Javon Bullard on a 2-yard scramble. Bullard was flagged for unnecessary roughness on the play. Murray's teammates on the field immediately called for medical attention.
Carson Wentz, who came in to relieve Murray, rallied the Vikings to an improbable comeback. Trailing 22-10 in the second half, Minnesota scored 29 straight points to take the win. Wentz finished with three touchdown passes, two of which went to Justin Jefferson.
Murray's injury ended what was a short Vikings debut. His first regular-season pass as a member of the franchise was intercepted by Packers cornerback Keisean Nixon.
Murray, the No. 1 overall pick of the Arizona Cardinals in 2019, won Minnesota's starting quarterback job this offseason by beating out 2024 first-rounder J.J. McCarthy. McCarthy was inactive for Sunday's game, though he was designated as the third-string emergency quarterback.
