Seattle Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald said Sam Darnold did not fracture his hip and that the team received "great news" about his injury prognosis following Wednesday's 13-10 victory over the New England Patriots, according to NFL reporter Andrew Siciliano.

Darnold underwent an MRI on Thursday. He's expected to miss time, but team doctors are still evaluating his potential return timetable, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. A source told Schefter that Darnold "dodged a bullet."

The Seahawks were without Darnold for most of their season-opening win after the quarterback got hurt on the opening drive. Darnold appeared to injure his hip when he was sacked on a third down. He limped off the field and went to the medical tent to be evaluated before heading to the locker room. The veteran was ruled out shortly before halftime.

Darnold was taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after exiting. His initial test was encouraging but inconclusive, sources told Schefter.

Darnold's night consisted of one completion on two attempts for 13 yards across five snaps.

Drew Lock took over and led a 13-point unanswered run to power Seattle to a Week 1 win. Lock led scoring drives on each of his last three series, excluding the kneel-down to close the contest. He finished with 16 completions on 22 attempts for 187 yards and a touchdown, which came on a 45-yard pass to Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

Darnold led the Seahawks to a Super Bowl LX triumph last season after throwing for 4,048 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions. He had five touchdowns and no interceptions in the postseason.
