The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and quarterback Baker Mayfield agreed on a three-year extension Tuesday, the team announced.
The deal is worth about $55 million per season, according to The Ringer's Tom Pelissero.
The two sides discussed a new contract during the offseason, but talks broke off, putting the veteran passer on track to become a free agent in 2027.
Mayfield voiced his frustrations at training camp, saying he expected another long-term deal after the Bucs told him he was their franchise quarterback.
The 31-year-old has earned two Pro Bowl berths since joining Tampa Bay in 2023 while averaging 4,079 yards and 32 touchdowns with 12 interceptions per season.
"Baker's arrival marked an important new chapter for our organization, and over the past three years he has established himself as the unquestioned leader of our franchise," Buccaneers owner Joel Glazer said in a statement.
"This contract - the largest in the history of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers - reflects our belief in Baker, and his leadership both on and off the field. His competitive spirit, resilience, and commitment to winning embody everything we want in our players."
The Bucs won consecutive NFC South titles in Mayfield's first two campaigns with the team but missed the playoffs entirely in 2025.
