New York Giants wide receiver Calvin Austin suffered a torn ACL during practice Tuesday and will miss the 2026 season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Austin went down with a noncontact injury in one-on-one drills and was carted off the field. He signed a one-year deal with the Giants this offseason after spending the first four years of his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The 27-year-old recorded 31 catches on 55 targets last campaign for 372 yards and three touchdowns. In Pittsburgh's Week 18 contest against the Baltimore Ravens, Austin hauled in a 26-yard touchdown that was ultimately the game-winning score that helped the Steelers secure the AFC North crown.
Austin was projected to play a significant role in New York's offense, stepping in to offset the loss of Wan'Dale Robinson, who departed in free agency. The Giants now have Odell Beckham Jr., Darius Slayton, Darnell Mooney, and rookie Malachi Fields to play with Malik Nabers at wide receiver.
However, it's uncertain when Nabers will be ready to return to game action after suffering a season-ending knee injury in September 2025. Head coach John Harbaugh said this week that it's "reasonable to assume" Nabers will be ready for Week 1.
New York opens its 2026 campaign against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 13.
