Arizona Cardinals running back Jeremiyah Love will be sidelined for at least one week due to an ankle injury sustained in Thursday's preseason opener.

"He was in great spirits, even Friday," LaFleur said Saturday, according to team reporter Zach Gershman. "But we'll keep him out this week as we let it heal. So, a little bit more sore than we were anticipating."

LaFleur said that the team will re-evaluate Love's status going into next week but wouldn't say if the injury will impact his availability for the start of the regular season. The Cardinals will play the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium to kick off their 2026 campaign.

Love's ailment was initially considered minor after leaving Arizona's exhibition matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders. However, the Cardinals are approaching the No. 3 overall pick's injury with caution ahead of his rookie campaign. The Notre Dame product rushed for 58 yards on 11 carries to go along with three receptions for 14 yards.

Trey Benson, Corey Kiner, Zonovan Knight, and Evan Hull could see more reps in practice this week with Love sidelined. The Cardinals will host the Dallas Cowboys in a preseason matchup Aug. 22.
