Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry isn't quite ready to entertain any thoughts of walking away from football ahead of his 11th season.
"I don't try to enter another season thinking about retirement," Henry said after practice Thursday. "That's not even my mindset. My mindset is: How can I get better, be the best teammate I can be so we can be the best team we can be. I haven't thought about retirement at all."
The 32-year-old halfback leads the NFL in rushing yards (3,516) and rushing touchdowns (32) since joining the Ravens in 2024.
In total, the five-time Pro Bowler has racked up 2,662 carries through his first 10 seasons but hasn't slowed down after entering his early 30s. Since 2000, only four tailbacks (Emmitt Smith, Ricky Williams, Adrian Peterson, and Frank Gore) have rushed for 1,000 yards at age 32 or older, per ESPN's Jamison Hensley.
"This game always comes with adversity and moments that are better than others, but I love the game," Henry said. "Once I feel like that love is gone, then I'll hang it up, but I'm just focused on getting better."
Henry, who sits 10th on the NFL's career rushing list, needs 6,236 yards to eclipse Smith as the league's all-time rushing leader.
