A complicated situation turned into a positive one for Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson after he arrived to team workouts.

Richardson, who reportedly was given permission to seek a trade, showed up to the facility earlier this month and was pleased to receive an opportunity to hone his craft from the team.

"The Colts are still giving me a chance to go out there and work hard and potentially get on the field," Richardson told Scott Horner and Kevin Brockway of the Indianapolis Star. "Glad to be able to stay in the NFL and put the work in. Just showing up at OTAs, it was a blessing in disguise for me because I just wanted to work and they allowed me to do that so I'm thankful for that."

Richardson's career hasn't panned out as hoped after the Colts selected him with the fourth pick in the 2023 draft. He battled consistency issues and injuries before eventually losing a quarterback battle to Daniel Jones for the 2025 starting job. Jones offered glimpses of promise before suffering a torn Achilles in December.

The Colts declined Richardson's fifth-year option earlier this offseason. He is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2026 season.
