Dart: Giants expect 'a whole lot of winning' under Harbaugh
New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is eager for what the future holds following the blockbuster appointment of new head coach John Harbaugh.
"When Coach Harbaugh's name came up, that was the one that we were all really, really excited about and wanted to have," Dart said, according to ESPN's Jordan Raanan. "So I think from just our standpoint, the guys just can't wait to play for him and have the chance to get coached by him."
Asked what his expectations were for playing for the decorated head coach, Dart said, "A whole lot of winning. That's it."
Dart spoke "at length" with Harbaugh on Jan. 14 prior to the Super Bowl-winning coach agreeing to terms with the franchise.
Harbaugh was fired by the Baltimore Ravens on Jan. 6 after 18 seasons in charge and confirmed as Giants coach 11 days later. He explained his reverence for the organization and a lofty goal of earning the right to be called world champions in the city of New York. He's racked up 180 regular-season wins and 13 playoff victories during his coaching career.
Dart is among the reasons why Harbaugh felt the Giants would be a good fit for him at this point in his career. The veteran coach wanted to again work alongside an established quarterback after spending the past eight seasons with two-time MVP Lamar Jackson.
"The quarterback is kind of important. That's kind of a big deal," Harbaugh said earlier this week. "I'm excited about Jaxson Dart."
Dart had a standout rookie campaign in 2025 as a dual-threat, passing for 2,272 yards, rushing for 487 yards, and accounting for 24 total touchdowns. He was named a finalist for the NFL's Offensive Rookie of the Year.
It remains unclear who Harbaugh will hire as offensive coordinator. Todd Monken is considered a leading candidate after serving as the Ravens' offensive play-caller since 2023.
The Giants will usher in a new era in 2026 on the heels of a 4-13 campaign that resulted in Brian Daboll's firing 10 games into his fourth season with the franchise.
