Russ rips 'classless' Sean Payton for apparent postgame dig
New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson clapped back at Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton on social media.
After completing an epic comeback over the Giants on Sunday, Payton complimented New York rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart while taking a shot at Wilson.
"They found a little spark with that quarterback," Payton said postgame about the Giants going from Dart to Wilson with the season underway, according to SNY. "I was talking to (Giants owner) John Mara not too long ago, and I said, 'We were hoping that that change would've happened long after our game.'"
Wilson responded to Payton on Tuesday, saying he isn't surprised by the veteran coach's "classless" comments. The 36-year-old also referenced the Bountygate scandal that rocked the New Orleans Saints organization with Payton as their head coach and resulted in a season-long suspension for him in 2012 following an NFL investigation.
Classless… but not surprised….

Didn’t realize you’re still bounty hunting 15+ years later through the media. 😎😂 #LetsRide 🤣
New York kicked off the 2025 campaign with Wilson under center but turned to Dart following a 0-3 start. Wilson played for Payton's Broncos in 2023, but the team released the signal-caller after going 8-9 that year.
The Giants have shown improvements lately, winning two out of four games with Dart at QB. New York drafted him 25th overall in April.
Sunday's win moved the Broncos to 5-2, good for the No. 1 spot in the AFC West.
