San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy is expected to miss two-to-five weeks with turf toe, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters Wednesday that the signal-caller was a long shot to play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints and that Mac Jones would likely get the start. Purdy is also dealing with a shoulder ailment.

Purdy didn't participate in Wednesday's practice. He suffered the toe and shoulder injuries in San Francisco's 17-13 victory over the Seattle Seahawks.

The 25-year-old finished the Week 1 contest completing 26 of 35 passes for 277 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He capped off a game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter with a TD pass to tight end Jake Tonges.

Purdy signed a five-year, $265-million extension this offseason. He holds a 24-13 record as the 49ers' starter after being selected with the last pick in the 2022 draft.

Jones, 27, spent the 2024 season with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He started seven games in Trevor Lawrence's absence, posting a 2-5 record with 1,672 passing yards and eight touchdowns. He also threw eight interceptions and fumbled once. Jones, who has a 20-29 record as a starter, was selected in the first round of the 2021 draft by the New England Patriots.

San Francisco went 0-2 last season without Purdy in the lineup.
