McCaffrey to play vs. Seahawks
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey is active for Sunday's matchup against the Seattle Seahawks despite battling a calf injury, the team announced Sunday.
McCaffrey was listed as questionable heading into the Week 1 game. He popped up on the injury report Thursday as a limited participant in practice before failing to take the field Friday.
However, the star running back said Friday, "I feel great about where I'm at."
McCaffrey is no stranger to calf issues, as an injury in that area limited him to only four games last season.
The 29-year-old back is two seasons removed from winning Offensive Player of the Year. He totaled a league-high 2,023 yards from scrimmage and 21 total touchdowns in 2023.
The 49ers have the likes of Brian Robinson, Isaac Guerendo, and fifth-round rookie Jordan James behind McCaffrey on the depth chart.
