It doesn't sound like a Micah Parsons extension is imminent.

The Dallas Cowboys haven't had meaningful contract talks with their star edge rusher, sources told NFL Network's Jane Slater.

Slater's report follows a series of tweets from Micah's brother, Terrence Parsons Jr., who suggested Tuesday on social media that the Cowboys star was close to signing a new deal.

Terrence's X account used a check mark button emoji to share a post stating that a five-year, $205-million contract for Parsons would be considered team friendly. Terrence initially added he didn't have inside information but later suggested otherwise while addressing Slater's report.

"She got her sources, I got mine," he wrote on X.

Slater added to her original report later Tuesday after Terrence's viral tweet, suggesting she believes a deal will eventually be signed.

"I have no reason to believe it won't be done or can't be done soon," Slater tweeted. "Just telling you I now have three sources telling me (a) deal isn't done and two telling me they wouldn't characterize the talks as meaningful enough right now to put pen to paper. Reading between the lines? Communication has begun, but they aren't there yet."

Parsons is entering the fifth year of his rookie contract, which pays him $24 million in 2025. He's expected to become the NFL's highest-paid defender when he signs a new deal. Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett recently signed a four-year, $160-million contract, the highest for a defensive player in league history.

It was reported Feb. 9 that the Cowboys had internal talks about potentially trading Parsons, but no recent reports have indicated that the team will move him. The two sides have previously said they want to reach an agreement.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones - who's also team president and general manager - also showed no urgency to extend quarterback Dak Prescott and wide receiver CeeDee Lamb but eventually rewarded his best offensive players with lucrative extensions.

Parsons, 25, has taken the NFL by storm since being drafted 12th overall in 2021. The former Defensive Rookie of the Year has registered 52.5 sacks in 63 games while earning three All-Pro berths (two first-team selections) across four seasons.
