Report: Cowboys plan to give franchise tag to Odighizuwa
The Dallas Cowboys are expected to designate defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa with the franchise tag if a long-term deal isn't reached by Tuesday, sources told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.
The tag would be worth $25.1 million, and the team has had extensive talks with him over the past few months, Fowler added. No final decision has been made by the Cowboys. All teams have until 4 p.m. Tuesday to franchise tag a player.
The 26-year-old UCLA product could be one of the top free agent defensive linemen. The Cowboys are also hoping to bring back free agent cornerback Jourdan Lewis and defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence, ESPN's Dan Graziano notes.
Odighizuwa recorded 25 solo tackles and 4.5 sacks last season. He was drafted by Dallas in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
