Dolphins waiving Barrett from reserve/retired list
The Miami Dolphins are waiving edge rusher Shaquil Barrett from the reserve/retired list, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Barrett will be ineligible to play for the remainder of the season if he's claimed off waivers by another team before Friday, per Schefter.
The 32-year-old can play if he clears waivers and signs with a team as a free agent.
"He is in great shape and would be ready to play immediately," Barrett's agent told Schefter.
Barrett signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins in March before announcing his retirement in July. The two-time Pro Bowler ended his retirement in November, but the Dolphins chose not to move him to the active roster.
The 6-foot-2, 250-pounder posted 4.5 sacks, three tackles for loss, and nine quarterback hits with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2023. He's tallied 59 sacks and 73 tackles for loss since entering the league as an undrafted free agent in 2014.
