Texans' Stroud: Ravens loss among 'worst games in my whole career'
Houston Texans quarterback C.J. Stroud is disappointed in his Christmas Day performance against the Baltimore Ravens.
"Terrible on my behalf, probably one of my worst games in my whole career," Stroud said after the 31-2 loss, according to The Associated Press' Kristie Rieken. "Just came out flat, didn't have any energy. I didn't lead the offense the way I should have."
Stroud finished the game with 185 yards, no touchdowns, and an interception on 17-of-31 passing. He was also sacked five times.
"Sometimes you go out there and lay an egg," Stroud said. "It's not easy to say that, but that's what happened. Didn't play well from the first play to the last."
The loss dropped the Texans to 9-7 ahead of a road matchup against the Tennessee Titans in next week's regular-season finale. Houston has already clinched the AFC South division.
Stroud is struggling to replicate the success of last year's Offensive Rookie of the Year campaign. The 23-year-old is averaging 44.1 fewer yards per game, has thrown more than twice as many interceptions, and is posting lower touchdown and completion percentage numbers.
Wednesday's loss marked the fourth time this season that the signal-caller was held without a touchdown pass. Houston is 1-3 in those contests.
"I'm not going to sit here and act like this is just foreign," the Ohio State product said. "But it is necessary to wake you up, and that's what it's going to do for me and this team."
