Jaguars' Lawrence to miss 2nd straight game with shoulder injury
The Jacksonville Jaguars won't have Trevor Lawrence available for a second straight week.
The starting quarterback won't play Sunday against the Detroit Lions due to a left shoulder injury, head coach Doug Pederson announced Wednesday, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Pederson added that he's optimistic Lawrence can return in Week 13 after Jacksonville's bye week, per ESPN's Michael DiRocco.
Mac Jones will replace Lawrence again after starting last week's 12-7 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. Jones, who made his first start of the season in Week 10, finished the defeat with 14 completions on 22 attempts for 111 yards and no touchdowns against two interceptions. He scored a rushing TD.
Lawrence is reportedly dealing with a significant AC joint sprain sustained two weeks ago versus the Philadelphia Eagles. The 2021 No. 1 pick is considered week-to-week.
It's been a disappointing season for the Jaguars, who are 2-8. Jacksonville ranks 21st and 25th in points and total yards on offense, respectively, while its defense places 27th in points and 32nd in yards allowed.
The Jaguars would have the first overall pick in 2025 if the season ended today.
