Johnson felt 'sigh of relief' when he was traded to Ravens

Diontae Johnson was thrilled when he learned he was traded to the Baltimore Ravens on Tuesday.

"Once I found out where I was going, I was excited," Johnson said, according to Clifton Brown of the Ravens website. "Sigh of relief. I'm ready to work."

Johnson began the season with the Panthers after the Pittsburgh Steelers dealt him to Carolina in March. He led the 1-7 Panthers in targets (58), receptions (30), and receiving yards (357) through seven games.

Carolina has struggled to get consistent quarterback play this campaign, ranking 30th in passing yards per game and last in dropback EPA. Baltimore, meanwhile, owns one of the league's best offenses through eight weeks. Quarterback Lamar Jackson ranks first out of 31 qualifying quarterbacks in success rate and fifth in the league in passing yards.

"I know what Lamar brings to the table, so just to be able to contribute to the offense that he's a part of and that he is a leader of is a blessing," Johnson added. "I'm going to do whatever I can to help this offense continue to get better."

The 28-year-old Johnson spent the first five years of his career in the AFC North with the Steelers. He has 421 catches for 4,720 yards and 28 touchdowns in 84 career games.
