The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to trade for a wide receiver after placing Rashee Rice on injured reserve with a knee injury, sources told Adam Schefter of ESPN.

The Chiefs won't get doctors' determination of Rice's status until after he undergoes surgery Monday, Schefter adds. The team is reportedly hoping he'll only miss about six-to-eight weeks.

Rice is Kansas City's leading receiver through four games, racking up 24 receptions for 288 yards and two touchdowns.

Hollywood Brown, who the Chiefs signed this offseason, isn't expected to play in the regular season after suffering a shoulder injury in August.

Kansas City doesn't expect to land Las Vegas Raiders star wideout Davante Adams, reports Schefter. The club only has $4.7 million in cap space, per Over The Cap, and would need their division rival to help pay some salary.

The Chiefs apparently looked into signing Titans wideout DeAndre Hopkins when he was a free agent in 2023. If Tennessee makes him available, Kansas City could look to acquire the veteran since he's in the last year of his contract, per Schefter.

Chiefs general manager Brett Veach has been active in the wide receiver trade market over the last two campaigns. He added Kadarius Toney ahead of the 2022 trade deadline and acquired Mecole Hardman from the New York Jets in October 2023.

Kansas City faces the New Orleans Saints on Monday Night Football in Week 5.
