Report: Chiefs finalizing trade for Titans' Hopkins

The Kansas City Chiefs are working to complete the acquisition of wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins from the Tennessee Titans, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Trade compensation for the veteran is expected to be a conditional fourth-round draft pick, Schefter adds.

Hopkins is expected to arrive in Kansas City on Wednesday and the hope is he can be ready to play Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, sources told The Athletic's Dianna Russini.

The reigning Super Bowl champions were widely speculated to be in the receiver market after losing starters Hollywood Brown and Rashee Rice to long-term injuries. JuJu Smith-Schuster is also expected to miss time with a hamstring issue, leaving rookie Xavier Worthy atop one of the NFL's thinnest wide receiving depth charts.

In Hopkins, the Chiefs will acquire a 32-year-old coming off a resurgent campaign in which he caught 75 passes for 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns. Hopkins has been less productive this season, catching only 15 passes for 173 yards and one touchdown through six games, but his statistical dip can perhaps be attributed to an August knee injury and the poor play of Titans quarterback Will Levis.

At 1-5, it seems the Titans are in seller mode, while the undefeated Chiefs are making a rare splash on the trade market as they continue their push toward an unprecedented third consecutive Super Bowl title.
