Texans' Hannah McNair: 'We want to win now'
Hannah McNair, the wife of Houston Texans owner Cal McNair, expressed Thursday that the team is all-in for the 2024 season.
"There's quite a buzz amongst the younger generation about the guys we've brought in. So, that's exciting," Hannah told Randy McIlvoy of KPRC 2 Houston.
She added: "We want to win now."
The Texans have been one of the more active teams this offseason, making multiple moves that signal the club's seriousness about contending for a Super Bowl in the coming years.
Houston wasted no time when the new league year opened, securing the services of pass-rusher Danielle Hunter and veteran running back Joe Mixon. The team later acquired star wide receiver Stefon Diggs in a blockbuster trade with the Buffalo Bills.
The Texans rank sixth out of all teams in money spent on free-agent signings and contract extensions this offseason, according to Spotrac.
"We embrace the expectations," Cal McNair said. "That's where we want to be. At the same time, it's about building the team, and the team being coached and working hard.
"It's the day-to-day things that are going to get us where we want to get to, but we got to stay focused and work hard every day to bring about where we want to go."
After a challenging period from 2020-22, where the Texans had a combined record of 11-38-1, the team's fortunes took a turn for the better. Adding quarterback C.J. Stroud and head coach DeMeco Ryans in 2023 sparked a resurgence, as the Texans went 10-7 en route to an AFC South crown and a spot in the divisional round.
Houston has nine picks in the 2024 NFL Draft, which kicks off on April 25.
