Raiders' Carr: 'I'd probably quit' if I had to play elsewhere
Derek Carr can't imagine wearing another NFL jersey.
The Las Vegas Raiders quarterback was asked Tuesday why he's never demanded a trade despite his team's lack of recent success.
"I want to do it here. I don't want to do it anywhere else," Carr said, according to Josh Dubow of The Associated Press. " ... I'd probably quit football if I had to do it anywhere else."
"I'd rather go down with the ship, if I had to," he added, according to Paul Gutierrez of ESPN.
Multiple quarterbacks have reportedly asked for a trade this offseason due to dissatisfaction with their teams, including the Green Bay Packers' Aaron Rodgers and the Houston Texans' Deshaun Watson.
Carr has averaged 3,912 passing yards and 25 touchdowns to 10 interceptions per 16 games since entering the NFL in 2014. But the three-time Pro Bowler has posted just one winning season with the Raiders, and his record as a starter is 47-63.
The Raiders' only playoff appearance under Carr came in 2016. However, the 30-year-old suffered an injury late in the season, and he was sidelined during the club's wild-card loss against the Houston Texans.
The Vegas Golden Knights - who've reached the playoffs in four straight campaigns and opened this year's Stanley Cup semifinal with a victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Monday - are now fueling Carr's eagerness to play his first postseason game.
"I told (Golden Knights captain) Mark Stone 'you guys are inspiring us,'" Carr said.
